Twenty-three years experience as Landscape Architect. Directs concept planning for subdivision and site work projects. Principal in Charge of Project Management for all design projects. Provides design and coordination for all site design and engineering projects at Paragon. Provides master planning services for parks, subdivisions, and school campuses. Also responsible for detailed design of all site related improvements including plazas and recreation/sports facilities. Has extensive experience with site design, grading, and earthwork. As a landscape architect offers extensive experience in planting design to corporate and residential clients . Has developed a special interest in the use of native plant communities to replace long term maintenance costs for clients, including the restoration of prairie and wetlands. Landscape Architect/Project Manager. This was originally a draftsman position. Due to ability to learn, organize, and pay attention to details, was promoted to Project Manager in only five months. Was Project Manager on all major engineering, land surveying, and land planning projects since time of promotion. Experience included initial client contacts and meetings to determine project scope and program, planning and design cost estimates, contract negotiations, preliminary design, presentations to the client and to the public, negotiations with local governments on project issues, coordinating and keeping local governments informed of project status, and preparing permit applications for state and local governments. Project quality control including reading and writing boundary descriptions for surveys, checking maps, plans, plats, certified surveys, topographic maps, and plan/profile pages for accuracy, completeness, and graphic quality. Was also responsible for all planning and site design including work for schools, hospitals, and local businesses. Responsibilities included storm water modeling and runoff computations primarily working with TR55 and also the verification of model computations during storm events. Experience in the design and implementation of erosion and sediment control measures including planning and design for restoration and erosion control for Mathy Construction Company's King Bluff Quarry and Medary Quarry, Wilbur Company's La Crosse Quarry, and Harter Trucking's Midway Sand Pit.. Was also responsible for and experienced with the design of earthwork and grading including the preparation of grading plans and contour maps both manually and in Autocad using downloaded field data and aftermarket supplemental software (MapTech and DCA Engineering). Also prepared earthwork computations for project cost estimates and for local contractors. Served as office computer guru and was responsible for selecting and maintaining all computer hardware and software. Landscape Architect/Project Manager. A design/build firm known for providing high quality design and installation. Was responsible for all phases of assigned projects from initial client contact to final inspection of the built project including: site analysis, mapping existing site features, design drawings, specifications, project drawings, contract documents, project schedule, layout, quality control, and inspection. May, 1984 - May, 1985. Story County Conservation Board, Nevada, Iowa. Planner/Landscape Architect/Forestry Intern. The Board was responsible for management of all Story County parks. Initial job as Forestry Intern was to begin an inventory of all trees in Hickory Grove Park and to establish new trees in areas planned for reforestation. Promoted to Planner/Landscape Architect and continued to work primarily in Hickory Grove Park on shore stabilization, shore fishing areas, and trail improvements along the one hundred acre lake which the park surrounds. RELEVANT PROJECT EXPERIENCE Extensive Number of Residential Subdivisions, 1997 to present. Along with the site designs for many residential subdivisions throughout his career, he designed the Oneota Ridge Development in the City of La Crosse, the Second Gerrard Addition in La Crosse, Beaver Creek I and Beaver Creek II subdivisions in Galesville, Wisconsin, the Southwinds Addition in La Crosse. Loggers Baseball Park upgrade, 2003. The Copeland Park baseball field was converted to the Loggers Baseball Park in the spring of 2003. Mr. Moorhouse designed the park under extreme time pressures to accommodate the season opening. Mr. Moorhouse's efforts included working with the manufacturer of the bleachers and assisting in the lighting design. Challenges included site design over an abandoned factory location and working with the owner to maximize the utility of the park while being sensitive to budget constraints.Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine, La Crosse, 2000 to present. Mr. Moorhouse is managing this project for Paragon. The project is located on a unique 70-acre site containing steep grades and limited disturbance areas. Mr. Moorhouse managed the schematic site design and final site master plan. Site design for the church and Catechetical Rectory involved significant challenges in the design of the stormwater runoff containment systems. Site development included parking, walkway and trail circulation, courtyard and entry space design, grading and erosion control issues, large boulder retaining walls and specialty soil retention systems.La Crosse County, Wisconsin, Lakeview Industrial Park, West Salem, Wisconsin, 2003 to present. Mr. Moorhouse managed the design of the first phase of a 160-acre industrial park development, involving utilities design, grading, surveying, site layout for one of the clients of the industrial park, construction staking and sanitary lift station design. Mr. Moorhouse' s responsibilities included managing the interactions with the County, the Village of West Salem, the Village's engineer and the constructor, and overseeing the lift-station design and spillway design. The project was under severe time constraints due to the onset of winter. Mr. Moorhouse was chief liaison with the constructor during the construction period prior to winter.Village of Holmen, 40-Acre Park, Holmen, Wisconsin, 1996. Coordinated the creation of a program for the site and drafting the master plan for the new community recreation and sports facility. Topographic base map, hydraulic study recommendations and shelter use study. Village of Holmen, High School Empire Track and Field, Holmen, Wisconsin, 1996. Provided design and engineering services which included mapping of existing site and design of WIAA sanctioned track and field facility with football/soccer field combination. Included storm sewer to provide quick drainage to return the facility to competitive conditions. Stanek Construction, Inc., Heritage Estates Condominiums, Onalaska, Wisconsin, 1995. Provided design and engineering services which included earthwork, sanitary and storm sewer design, erosion control, and road design . Kings Bluff La Crosse Quarry, La Crosse, Wisconsin, 1992. Erosion control plans, storm water plans and reclamation plans for the opening of a new limestone quarry in northern La Crosse County. Assisted owner with presentations for public meetings and government. officials to gain approval for the start of operations. Reclamation included a unique solution to maintain the scenic appeal of the ridge top after the rock reserve was removed. Elmwood Hills, Onalaska, Wisconsin, 1992. 135 lot residential subdivision. Project included storm water system analysis and detail design, coordination with the State Highway Department and City to install utilities in conjunction with a state road reconstruction project. All site grading and erosion control design and inspection including the establishment of nine acres of native prairie and woodland habitats. State of Wisconsin - Department of Administration, University of Wisconsin - LaCrosse, LaCrosse, Wisconsin, 1993. A state of Wisconsin project to develop a new parking lot adjacent to the new Alumni Center on the campus of the University of Wisconsin - LaCrosse. Scope of work included design and construction supervision. Design included plans and specifications to meet state and municipal standards. The improvements included complete curb and gutter, asphalt paving, storm sewer, sidewalks, lighting and adjacent site restoration. Design also coordinated with the University to insure proper access points and the preservation of several existing large trees. Lot contained 81 standard and 4 accessible spaces. State of Wisconsin - Department of Administration, University of Wisconsin - LaCrosse, LaCrosse, Wisconsin, 1993. A state of Wisconsin project to reconstruct the parking lot adjacent to Veterans Memorial Stadium on the campus of the University of Wisconsin - LaCrosse. Scope of work included design and construction supervision. Design included plans and specifications to meet state and municipal standards. The improvements included complete curb and gutter, asphalt paving, storm sewer, sidewalks, lighting and adjacent site restoration. Design also coordinated with the University to insure proper access points, landscaping and coordination of owner utilities. Lot contained 269 standard and 7 accessible spaces.
